Grandparents Day in Scoil Íosa

Bishop Brendan joined Staff, pupils and special guests in  Scoil Íosa on Wednesday January 29th. This day is set aside as “Grandparents’ Day” in Catholic Schools Week.  All the children took part in a Prayer Service and  first and second class dramatised the gospel story of 'The Loaves and fishes'. We were also joined by teachers from neighbouring schools and Fr John Paul Sheridan (Diocese of Ferns) for the launch of Maura Hyland’s book “Why send your child to a Catholic School?”
It was a lovely gathering.  Bishop Brendan and Fr John Paul spoke of Catholic Education in the modern setting in which it finds itself and its ongoing significance in the lives of so many of our people.
Afterwards the children played some music and sang some lovely songs to entertain all who had attended.
A huge thank you to all our grandparents who attended and made it such a special occasion, and to all our parents for preparing refreshments on the day.
