On Wednesday 3rd February as part of Catholic School's Week we held a lovely prayer service for all our grandparents. Before the day, each class was busy gathering photographs of our grandparents, interviewing our grandparents to find out about life when they were young, doing research into our family trees, and writing poems and stories.
Fr. Quinn began the service with an opening prayer and following prayers and a reading he blessed our throats. After the prayer service each class had something special prepared for our grandparents. Junior and senior infants sang 'The Family Tree' , first and second recited a lovely poem called 'Grandma's Wings', third and fourth class gave us details about their family names and crests and who they were named after and fifth and sixth class performed their version of 'Delaney's Donkey'. Mrs Nyland and Teresa also recited a poem.
Afterwards everyone enjoyed refreshments kindly supplied by our Parents Association, while our grandparents and parents had time to look at and read our displays. It was a lovely occasion for all of us and our families and we really enjoyed finding out about life in their times.
