Grandparents Day 2011
On Wednesday 3rd February as part of Catholic School's Week we held a lovely prayer service for all our grandparents. Before the day, each class was busy gathering photographs of our grandparents, interviewing our grandparents to find out about life when they were young, doing research into our family trees, and writing poems and stories.
After the prayer service each class had something special prepared for our grandparents. Junior and senior infants sang 'The Family Tree' , first and second recited a selection of lovely poems all about Grandma or Grandpa, third and fourth class gave us more songs and poems and fifth and sixth class performed a selection of Irish poems and a song.
Afterwards everyone enjoyed refreshments kindly supplied by our Parents Association, while our grandparents and parents had time to look at and read our displays. It was a lovely occasion for all of us and our families and we really enjoyed finding out about life in their times. Our grandparents also all received a St. Bridgid's cross made by our senior pupils.
Here is some of our work for the day.
Here we see lots of our parents and grandparents that came for the prayer service.
